What happens if I want to book a photo shoot?
1 - Get in contact / schedule your photo shoot
Soon after that we’ll discuss how to tailor your photo shoot uniquely to you and your pets needs. I offer a complimentary consultation at my studio, so why not come down and introduce me to your pet(s) and find out how we can work together.
2 - Shoot Time
Now for the fun bit! I aim for all shoots to be fun and stress-free, as that’s the perfect way for me to capture your pet's personality and character. All you need to do is turn up to the chosen location and let me capture the fun on camera.
3 - Viewing & Ordering
I'll invite you to the studio for a gallery viewing and a coffee; this is when you can choose your favourites. I will help guide and advise you on the best art work to really showcase your photographs. There is no obligation to buy, and no minimum spend.
4 - Artwork Delivery
It’s time to see your favourite photos in print for the first time. Yay! Waz and I will even help you hang your art pieces on your wall.
Can my whole family be in the photos?
Family can be included in one or two photos, but I’m a pet photographer so my main focus will always be on the furry friends.
How do I order what I want?
At your photo shoot, I will arrange a time for you to view and choose your portraits at your ordering session. This is done in the studio or at your home, and can take up to 90 minutes. Your beautiful photos will be displayed to you on a big screen, or on my laptop ...carefully chosen images are checked for focus, natural character, and beautiful light. You will be guided through the whole process of how to decide which portraits to purchase, and you'll be shown examples of how your portraits can be displayed in your home.
Accepted payment methods are eftpos, cash, EFT transfer or credit card.
Payment plans are available. Once you have chosen your portraits and products, there is a non-refundable deposit of 40% of the total due at the time of ordering. Over the following three months, you will receive a monthly invoice separated into three equal parts from Swirltography to pay out the remainder of the total owed.
Where are you located?
The photography studio is on Newspaper Place in Maroochydore, off Dalton Drive. It’s only a few kilometres from the Plaza. Specific directions and address will be given upon inquiry. Outdoor photo sessions are restricted to within the Sunshine Coast & Noosa area, or a travel fee can be agreed upon for other areas.
What time of day is best for a photo session?
For outdoor photography, early morning and late afternoons provide the best light, but if the day is overcast, then any time of day will do. Taking photos mid-day on bright and sunny days is not fantastic, unless some shade is available. Indoor studio photo shoots are fine any time of day or night.
My dog is not very well-behaved, does it matter?
Not entirely. While knowing the basic commands, such as sit and stay, will be a big advantage! However, it is not a requirement. I work with rescue dogs who have limited or no knowledge of basic commands. Even if your dog won’t sit on command, he or she will eventually sit on their own, and that’s when I’ll get the shot. I also bring some tasty treats and a squeaky toy with me, which helps get the dog's attention. If need be, leash removal can be done in post processing.
Where will my photo shoot take place? And what should I wear?
That's completely up to you, though you can ask about a few favourite locations which I can recommend. This is especially important if you would like some action shots of you running around with your pet. Think about what you want to get out of your shots... Do you want to wear an evening gown with your dog? Well then, you should wear that beautiful dress! If we're going to the beach, come prepared for anything
Do you shoot other animals, aside from dogs?
Yes. I would love the opportunity to photograph all kinds of pets, from little kittens to camels and emus, but no snakes please ... they scare me. Dogs are my speciality though.
Why should I get my pets professionally photographed?
Our pets are in our lives for only a short while, but they take up such a huge place in our hearts.
How excited do they get when you arrive home?
How much do you enjoy their cuddles and crazy quirks?
Who listens to you all the time, regardless of how many times you're telling the same tail?
They are a huge part of your family.
You won’t regret having something fun to look upon your time together and remind you of the love you shared. Not only will these memories be captured for a lifetime, but it’s an investment in cheerful artwork and a great bonding experience.
Will your dog be able to handle fame?
Providing a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere is my priority, for both you and your dog. The process is informal and non-judgemental. It can be a bit intimidating ... taking your dog to get professionally photographed, but you do not have to worry about a thing. If Mojo pees or poos in the studio, we'll just clean it up. And if your husband falls asleep on the sofa, it's a sign of how relaxed things can be. There is no pressure on you or your dog. Some dogs may act differently when placed in the spotlight, but it’s all about patience, and when it comes to pets, I have plenty to spare.
I do recommend taking your dogs for a walk before the shoot though, keeping them hungry so they'll work for the treats, and letting them pee before entering the studio building. This will help them to be relaxed and content at the start.
People say “Oh, my dog doesn't like to be photographed”, only to be amazed when they see the results. It's all about making it a fun experience for your pet ... they've got to enjoy it, and so do you and I! :)
Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Yes! ... It's a it's a wonderful gift to give to someone special, or someone who 'already has everything'. You can purchase just the shoot alone, or add credit too for them to order art pieces to keep. Please order here.
My dog is sick, can you fit in a last minute booking?
Where possible my scheduling can be adjusted to accommodate urgent sessions for pets that are terminally ill. I'll do my absolute best ... call me.
